Coincidence was a collaboration of Hal McGee and Chris Phinney (Mental Anguish). Recorded June 19-25, 1991, at Harsh Reality Studio, Memphis, Tennessee. Chris Phinney: Korg Poly 800, Moog Rogue, Bongos, Sandpaper, Guitar, Sequences, Recorder, FX, Mix, Engineering. Hal McGee: Korg Poly 800, Moog Prodigy, Percussion, Metal, Horn, Rasping, Pulley, Screws, FX. A bit different than the previous Phinney/McGee tapes in that this one is a bit more melodic, gentler, more reflective, and is based more on subtle repetitive patterns. Photos taken by Tawnya Phinney. This recording was dedicated to Christopher Grahm Phinney (born April 3, 1991) and to my dachshund Coffee Binx died in Apollo Beach during the course of this recording session in Memphis (June 22).
